Leaving nursery - should I buy presents?

My dd is leaving nursery after 5 months as I'm pregnant again and will be on maternity leave. What's the protocoll for present buying? Should I, and if so, what kind of things go down well?

What about a nice box of chocolates for everyone to share?

For the staff, or the nursery itself?

As she's only been there a short while I don't think anything would be expected, but if you want to do something:

• for the staff, something they can have with their breaks - like a posh box of chocolates or biscuits - or if you don't know what they might like, some M&S vouchers so they can choose; or

• for the nursery itself, a book with "Thank you for looking after me, love from dd" inside.

One wee boy who left ds's nursery gave all the children in the room a leaving present! - ds's was a little inflatable dolphin and it has only finally now expired, after four years of being beloved.

Thank you, I like the idea of a nice book and also a box of chocolates for the lovely staff, who have been outstanding. Will be sad to take her away, but can't justify it as will be on maternity leave!

When I took my dd out of nursery I bought a big tin of posh biscuits. Most of the staff were aged under 20, at that age when chocolate biscuits still go down well.

I work in a nursery and although we would never expect a present it is so lovely to recieve one. We always feel like it is a huge pat on the back and a great thankyou. It makes us feel like we have been doing well and that all our hard work is worth it.
We had a small box of Roses yesterday and we were all SO grateful! It has been a busy few months with assessments, summer fetes and trips to organise.
Nursery Nurses love chocolates and biscuits but a great (and different) idea is to get a lovely basket of fruit. We had one once and it was a welcome relief from sweets!

Agree - nursery nurses love chocs and biscuits and a wee note of appreciation. Something like a special book or a toy the nursery might use sounds lovely. Someone who left us once bought some lovely new wooden toys for the baby room - much appreciated.

is giving money not appropriate?

We donated toys to the nursery ( we were emigrating and dd1 has soo many).

For her original primary carer - we bought her something special - with a photo and card from dd1. The other carers in her room I bought some Fab bath/body products for them to spoilt themselves.

nice chocs/biscuits?

I made a cake for the staff at Christmas time - thought there was only so much cheap bath salt that someone could actually use.

As there are often alot of staff pressie buying can be a bit expensive! I think a nice box of bickies for the staff room and maybe a toy for the nursery!

DD will also be leaving nursery soon & would like to buy the staff something. It's a real mix of ages there (the staff, not the kids ) - anything other than the posh biscuits/chocs suggestino? thanks!
