losing clothes at nursery

lately my ds (age2) has been losing clothes at nursery. first it was the odd sock, then his mittens, the occasional vest, a top or two and a pair of trousers. today is it is one of his slippers. I have put shoe labels in his slippers as many kids have the same design. Instead this weekend he has a slipper belonging to someone else (who must have his) and this imposter slipper is too big.
Usually the nursery puts their dirty clothes in a nappy sack on their peg, but sometimes this process doesn't happen......why not?!
Perhaps it is just me but I am starting to get a little cross by this, especially the latest slipper incident as his were new at xmas.
Want to complain to the management but feel a bit petty. It is not so much about the money. Fortunately I can replace everything lost, but it is the principle, I shouldn't have to.

when my ds was in nursery, they had a board outside and if you enquired about a missing item, they would write it down and asked parents to check their bags. bet the imposters' mum would love to have his slipper back accidents happen and end of day must be chaotic, but speak to the other mums and if it seems to be a regular problem have a word. i would do anyway as it's not petty at all and good practise for when your son goes to the bermuda triangle (also known as school)...

The problem can be exacerbated by child rabidly claiming incorrect item of clothing or a parent who didn't drop off saying "Well I'm not really sure, don't you remember what he was wearing when my wife/husband/partner/mother dropped him off?"
