Nurseries in W1 area

We've recently moved from well out of town to right in the thick of it... and I'm going bonkers spending 24/7 as a mummy. I need to find a childcare option to give me some me space back (13 m.o.); but I don't even know anyone in this area to ask, really. I'm thinking a nursery would be better, as DS doesn't get much socialising and I think it would be good for him... does anyone know (and have any feedback) about nurseries in Mayfair & surrounds? I'm not working, so I don't want to be paying £100 a day like the Montessori up the road asks for!!

any help appreciated

hello.
our baby girl is approaching her 1st birthday and I'm due to go back to work in January in Mayfair, hence we sought a nursery nearby my office.

I'm not sure which Montessori school is near your home, but our daughter is now enrolled at the Hope Montessori Nursery in Marylebone Lane which - from my office in Berkeley Square - is just a 7mins walk.

the part time fees are GBP880/month and that covers 8am to 1pm.

we have had settling in these past 3wks (you dont pay for that) and while I found it hard for me to leave my darling there after being around her 24/7 for the first 11months, she clearly enjoys having other kids around her.

happy to give you more information, should this sound of interest to you.

I would highly recommend Beginnings in Marble Arch - www.beginnings.org.uk/ - our (non-Jewish) 13 m.o. goes there and we are really happy with the nursery, the staff and the care he gets. From memory it's £68 per day for 8.30-5.30 (I think...) Good luck!

Thanks so much for your suggestions, ladies... DH suggested a trip home to Aus for a month, and I got sidetracked from the nursery thing briefly (back on track again)... have heard good things about beginnings (though it was when i first moved here, and couldn't remember the name), and must admit, I am interested in the Montessori; i think my thoughts about fees need to be reviewed; this area is just double (or more) what my NCT friends are paying where I used to live.
