Nursery EYFS diaries

DS has been going to a preschool where they obviously fill in the EYFS diaries for each child. Class Leader has told me they will send ds's diary onto the nursery but surely we as parents should be able to view first? TIA

Yeah you have a right to see any information that is held for your child. It is good practice to share with parents the EYFS stuff and a lot of nurseries, pre-schools have parents days where you go in and look through the work your child has been doing and discuss progress / development. Some parents arn't interested some are either way I would have expected that you would have been given the choice.

When my DD left pre-school 5yrs ago I had to go in and see her key worker and sign off the booklet, the system is different now but as a childminder we are encouraged to work in partnership with parents in terms of development and I regularly share EYFS folder which has observations on the child, come to think of it my parents sign them and put comments on, I figure this should be the same for pre-school.

I would ask your DD's keyworker if you can go throgh it with him / her, better be quick though because they should be getting signed off and sent to school around about now, I know our local nurseries signed and sent off beginning of last week.
