Can anyone recommend how to begin sourcing a good nurery?

ask around, personal recommendation is better than ofsted reports
or if you don't know anyone
try the yellow pages, ring up a few and visit them
look for happy staff and happy children
are you made to feel welcome?
are the children all busy and actively taking part
have they got a good outside space
