Recommendations for nurseries in Bethnal Green

I've just been told that the nursery I've registered my DS for is extremely oversubscribed, and that there is every possibility that he may not get in. This is something of a shock, as we live quite close and I had assumed that it would be fairly straightforward. So I'm going to apply for another one, but would really appreciate any advice re nurseries that are close to the Globe Road and Roman Road intersections. Please be frank - I would appreciate some honest pointers on this issue, as I'm stressing about it!

The nursery at Queen Mary University is excellent, provides amazing care, and everyone who works there is lovely. It's on Bancroft Road by the Mile End Road. It wouldn't be a long walk, and worse comes to worse you can hop on the 309 bus.

I've also heard about Scallywags - which is a parent-run nursery, I believe in and around E3. But I don't have any more information on that.

I know what you mean about how stressful this all is. We are about to move up to Hackney, and I just found out that the nursery by our new house has a 2 year wait list! So, we'll have to keep her where she is and add a 45 minute journey to the nursery at the beginning and end of each day.

Oh, but then I was really stupid and did a quick, "just out of interest", look into primary schools - what a mistake!! It only seems to get worse unless you live on one of the 3 roads within the catchment areas of the very few good schools in east london... sigh.
