Cold & Conjunctivitis

My LO is 6 months old and I took him for his settling in days last week as he starts nursery on Wednesday. He now has conjunctivitis and a cold! Cant believe he has picked these up already after a few hours there.
I go back to work on Wednesday from maternity leave. Am hoping to get to the docs tomorrow for some treatment for his eye. Now realistically, maybe in your experiences, do you think he will be okay to go to nursery on Wednesday - am dreading to have to tell my employers I wont be going in!
Thanks x

Ask your Doc but I think conjunctivitis is only contagious for the first 72 hours AFTER you start treatment.

Hope he feel better soon!

Check with the Nursery also, as they will have a policy in place which will tell you if and when they will accept children in with certain infections etc, including conjunctivitis.

conjunctivitis advice on NHS website:

Should I keep my child home from school?

Unless there is an outbreak of infective conjunctivitis at your child's school, you will not have to keep your child at home. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) states that it is not advisable to exclude children from schools, or playgroups, if they have a mild, infectious illness, such as a cold or infective conjunctivitis.
