Are deposits refundable or count towards fees if you give required notice at private day nurseries? Sorry! I am confused

what does your contract say?

Just at stage of viewing places and one said that the deposit was non refundable...I really liked the place, but got a bit confused as to what the norm is, as i don't want to part with my hard earned cash unless absolutely necessary!

At my son's nursery they refunded the deposit after he'd left (with all fees paid).

I think "non-refundable" deposits refer to the nurseries where you pay a deposit before your child starts, but don't get it back if you decide not to take up the place.

just pad non-refundable registration fee (£40), plus deposit refundable with 4 weeks' notice.
