End of my tether....not sure what to do!!?

My DD (2.5) started at pre school just one morning a week after Xmas. The first session was fine...but since then she has been a nightmare.....screaming when I leave her but fine for the rest of the time. Since then it has got progressively worse....during the rest of the week she regularly says things like "I don't like playschool" without prompting. I have seen a change in her, even at Mums and Toddlers she won't leave my side and has got more clingy in all situations, yesterday she wouldn't even go into my Mum's house without me carrying her (she usually runs to the door!!!)
So not sure what to do as I think it is stressing us out loads..... and I dread when the day comes.
do I persevere for a while longer?
do I stop the stress now and start her again at a different preschool when she is 3 (September)?

I just can't see things improving. Will it be better when she is a little older and more able to play properly and interact with other children?

Can't really suggest anything, but just giving this a bump to see if there's anyone out there with some wise words for you.

It was for socialising really and to get her used to it!!! However she has woken up a few nights crying that she doesnt want to!!!! We assume she has had a bad dream about pre school. Feel like shite about it!!

Have you asked her why she doesn't like it??

Twiglett · 14/02/2005 19:30

I personally think she might be a little young

socialising at 2.5 can be done at playgroups with a parent there, they don't need to be left

if you can manage it why not take her out and wait till she's 3 or 3.5 to try it again
