Hi. My dd is due to start a full-time nursery place at the beginning of August, when I return to work. At that time she'll be coming up for 7m old. At the moment she's quite clingy and cries if spoken to/held by strangers (I'm told this is normal for her age?) Altho' I am looking forward to going back to work and the social contact for her and me that nursery will bring, I'm starting to get really scared that she will hate it, and me for sending her there! Can anyone provide a neurotic first-time mummy with reassurance, and top tips? Am hoping to have a fairly extended settling-in period starting next week...

The settling in sessions should reassure you.
This will show you if she settles well.
My dd'd used to cry when left, but were then fine after a min or so.
Make sure they know her routine and what will settle her- I have left my dd in the car seat because she is fast asleep- she wouldn't have appreciated being woken up -is there a place for you to leave car seats/pushchairs if you need to?
They should make her a change "box" with her wipes, nappies, cream, a clean pair of clothes etc. THen all you need to pack each day is bottles, food (if they don't provide) and any top ups.
My nursey were fine about me ringing up (I even made dp ring aswell- to make me seem less neurotic (even though we were constantly liasing).
make sure you leave contact details etc for work etc (not that they will ring you unless dd unwell etc)- it just makes you feel better.
My dd2 is a breeze compared to dd1 and i believe this is because she thrived in the routine of nursery.
Ps sorry for ramble
