Can I pull out during settling

Hi all, my child has started a nursery and done a one hour settle yesterday and today. I wasn’t very impressed today with how one of the older staff (probably in her 60s) looked like she was getting fed up with the babies for trying to put things in their mouths, they’re babies! Moaning because they had thrown messy place on the floor etc. She also was singing and engaging with the babies but it more looked like a chore and she kept looking at me whilst doing it, so I presume it was for my benefit.

its put me right off! If thats how she’s acting in front of me, how she’s acting when parents aren’t there. There are mixed reviews about the nursery, mostly positive, but of course some negative. Of course the behaviour is not the worst and she could of just been having a bad day, but it’s left a sour taste for me.

On the other hand I have found out that a place has come up for my child at the original nursery I was going to send them to.

Can I pull out of the settling? They have a deposit of ours, but we don’t pay until they officially start next week. I’m not bothered about losing the deposit, but more if they’re going to say I owe a month’s money!?
I just don’t feel the place is right for my 1 year old.
I’m going tomorrow with my partner so he can see how it is. We’re supposed to be leaving my child there for two hours alone but I’m not sure I feel Comfortable with this. Of course I don’t think she’s violent or mean. But my child can be a handful, very energetic etc and it worries me that she will get annoyed with that

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I doubt anyone on here knows what contract you signed.

Did you sign a contract and what does it say?

Meand2Ls · 27/10/2026 18:37

2 of my friends changed settings because of a bad settling experience, none of them were charged. One of them lost their deposit, the other the nursery admitted fault and paid it back

Youll need to check the contract and speak to the manager. Our nursery requires a terms notice to leave. And they may have already submitted the paperwork for your funded hours
