What should I ask at DS's nursery open day?

Hiya, my DS's nursery is having an open day this Saturday and new and existing kids are all invited. He is registered to start there in October when I return to work and other than going there ages ago for a look about I've not been back. I asked questions back then but haven't a clue what they were

Any suggestions re what I should be asking this Saturday or things to look out for?

I don't know how old your DS is, so that would affect questions, but if they don't cover the following these are the kinds of things I'd be asking myself:

I'd ask about how they handled "sharing" or quarreling over a toy.

How many nursery workers to how many children and are they allocated specific children or are the children just in a room with the right number of adults? (I have seen this and occasionally witnessed excluded children because they're not allocated to a given carer)

Meals: what time are they and how much time is given to taking them?

Nappies (if applicable): how often do they change them?

Outside: do they go outside every day, for how long? is it supervised?

How long do they spend on each task / in each room?

Do they learn tidying up?

how they store EBM if you are taking any

who is key worker will be

what sort of daily reporting can you expect

what are the food options - is it cooked on site and freshly prepared

ask what drinks are offered

ask if nappies and wipes are included in the price

ask for a typical day's activities

ask to see latest OFSTED report

staff ratios for each room

exclusion policies for illnesses

check for security issues - locks on doors, stairgates and passwords etc for pick up times

check the outdoor space out
