Does a strange smell exude from your DC's head when they return from nursery?

I cannot put my finger on it.

It is not a hospital/cleaning/dettolly smell.

Nor is it the smell of what they had for lunch (that I can smell from their tops).

It's kind of fruity, rancidy weird indian spicy smell.

Is this a universal phenomenon?

Oh, I'm glad that you found it too! It is a sort of biscuity/pencil sharpenings smell with a hint of strawberries.

Slubberdegullion · 30/06/2008 15:14

is your ds scentless then when he returns lapin? or does he just return with the smell he left with?

Yes - always did - particularly with ds2 - who's always been quite smelly anyway

It was a mixture of sweat, lunch, wipes and general yuck... Ours used to go to nursery on Thursdays and Fridays, so a Friday night bath used to get rid of it!

DSD always has a particular smell when she comes from nursery.. Not sure what it is and its not massively offensive - just a bit stale

They never have a smell when they come out of pre-school, so why fruity post nursery and fresh post preschool?????

Slubberdegullion · 30/06/2008 15:20

I think you have been told before this is OTT and silly.

Otter smells wonderful!

Slubberdegullion · 30/06/2008 15:21

x post lapin @ cucumbershampoo

Tilly otters smell rancid, absolutely boaking. The otter enclosure at the zoo is not for the faint of nose.

I'm sure a Gentleotter would smell like lily of the valley though.

Yes my DCs always "smell of nursery" when I pick them up. I think it is the smell of all the cooking etc that goes on there.

Slubberdegullion · 30/06/2008 15:27

Gentle otters probably have a little fish knife and fork that they have wrapped in a soft cloth and carry in a small leatherette pouch.

These are Otteragously good

Wafts off leaving the faintest whiff of lily-off-the-valley and maybe a hint of lavender....
