10.5 month starting nursery

My 10.5 month starts nursery tomorrow , doing 3 full days . How do I prepare for this as it breaks my heart sending my little one.
I am worried she won’t settle at all, she won’t nap and she still struggles with eating some solids and can be picky with food, so that also worries me. Any advise and positive stories from sending your little ones?

Has she had any visits?
Are you sending a comfort item with her?

Has she had settling in sessions?

my DD started at 11.5 months

prepare for some tears on drop off and pick up. Took afew weeks for them to her to stop.

send in a cuddly toy, comforter whatever it is she likes.

i used to have to rock her to sleep, nursery just put her down and she was out for the count.

food wise. You will be surprised what they eat there, being around other children all eating encourages them.

To add: she’s 2.5 now and runs in without saying bye.

Yes she had 2 visits , one we stayed for 30 minutes and she was fine. The 2nd we left for an hour and she cried when we went to pick her up, but it was due her nap time but not sure if it was that or because she realised we had left.
she doesn’t really have a comfort item, we sending her dummy and also her sleep sack for naps.

My DD started at the same age. Compared with DS who started at 14 months due to Covid, she was a breeze. She was happy to go in, had a great time there, and loved playing with her friends. The staff in the baby rooms are lovely. They have such a small ratio of babies to adults that they’re able to give them lots of attention, cuddles to sleep etc.

My son, on the other hand, was so much more aware I was leaving him and cried for 4 weeks straight. It was awful. I was so glad with DD that she went earlier before she was so aware of what was going on. By the time she reached that awareness, she was thrilled with going into nursery because she knew it meant fun and friends all day.

She’s 3 now and still loves going.

I actually think babies take to it well cause they love all the new toys, attention and being around other babies. My daughter started at this age she was fine didn’t sleep or eat well to start with but did soon settle just be prepped to both be full of cold for the next couple months. You will question if the illnesses ever end but I promise they do you just have to ride it out!

Oh and she’s 2 now and asks me every day if she’s going to play at nursery 😂
