To start before or after half term?

Hi,

My toddler has been given a nursery place to start the week before half term. Am I right in thinking it would be sensible to wait and start after half term? She’s 2 and never been in a childcare setting before - it’s funded hours and she’ll be doing a few mornings a week to begin with. I’m wondering if it’ll throw off her settling in by starting then being the next week. FTM so just wondering if anyone’s been in the same boat or to hear some views from more experienced nursery mums!

I emailed the nursery for their opinion and they said it’s totally up to me but I don’t know what the right choice is either. She has very little verbal communication so I think she’d find it hard to understand but on the other hand she is excited and regularly signs “friends” to us so I don’t know what to do for the best! Thank you :)

Definitely after. Although if you don't need the childcare and her speech isn't great I'd seriously consider delaying until September.

This is really useful thank you. I don’t need the childcare I just hoped she’d come on in her development more going.

Has she had a proper hearing test? We thought my boy could hear fine but turns out he couldn't hear lower frequencies so his speech was way off (said floh for flower for instance as he couldn't hear the lower second syllable).
