1st June 2026 non-funded day at nursery

Our nursery have advised parents that Monday 1st June 2026 is a non-funded (15/30 hours) day by the local council (West Berkshire) and children attending that day will have to pay full price fees. Does anyone know the reason why 1st June is a non-funded day or had similar said by other councils? Not had this happen in previous year and I can't find anything related to this update on the West Berkshire website and the nursery haven't (yet) provided any official information to accompany their update. Any light on this day would be lovely!

No idea but there's a week in April my council don't provide funding.
and I'm sure there's one in Aug aswell.

'Term time' is 39 weeks, but funding only covers 38 weeks - this is because schools have 5 teacher training days.
Different LAs and providers organise this in different ways but all will have an unfunded 5 days compared to school terms.
