Settling in 11 months

Hi all, looking for some advice/reassurance about nursery settling.

My daughter started nursery this week and has done 2-hour sessions Monday–Thursday (10–12). Next week she’ll be going Tuesday–Thursday 9–12.30, building up eventually to her full days of Tues–Thurs 9–4.

So far she cries at drop-off and then cries herself to sleep for around 30 minutes. After that she seems somewhat OK, but is very clingy with staff and emotionally up and down for the rest of the session.

Is this fairly normal at this stage? Should I be doing anything differently, or just ride it out? Any tips for helping her settle more smoothly would be really appreciated.

It is absolutely normal. This is the age of separation anxiety. It will pass, they will forget and won’t affect them.
