Lovely manager from our nursery, and DD's key work leaving today...

...and I am really sad about it. The manager is lovely and so is the keyworker and it is a real shame they are going. They have both been there since DD started a year ago when the nursery was very new too. She is really attached to them both. She only goes for one day a week and has recently really, really settled. I am worried that the change of staff will effect her but mostly I feel sad because I knew the people looking after DD really well and trusted them completely.

Has anyone else been through this?

twofalls - have you met the new manager yet? That might reassure you.

As a nursery manager myself (on mat leave at moment hence on MN) do you know why they are both leaving on same day? I know i would try to avoid this at all costs so might be worth delving a little deeper. Could just be really bad timing but in that case would hope that nursery has a very good plan in place to minimise disruption, worth asking them about how they will manage it.

thanks mummywannabe, it is just a case of really bad timing I think (there were going to be 3 of them leaving but they have promoted her thankfully so she is staying!). The owner has another nursery and the manager is coming over from that one so I have met her a couple of times. She seems nice but has a very different style to the current one. We have had a letter from the owner reassuring us that all steps will be taken to minimise disruption and there is a parents evening in a couple of weeks. I understand that these things happen, its just that I suppose none of us really likes change like this and I do worry that DD will miss the two that are going and we will take a few steps back.
