Dc 14 months has been at nursery a couple of months. Not particularly impressed but not sure what the etiquette is around giving presents? Do people do it for nurseries? Can they accept presents? Is a box of chocolates acceptable? Thanks

A card and a box of biscuits/ chocolate is more than sufficient.

Why give anything if you're not loving it there?
It's not mandatory. I love my dcs' teacher and wish her happy holidays. No presents or cards. It's okay.

@Mumtobabyhavoc I guess I think the staff work hard and they are badly paid even if it's not the best.

That's fair. Still, no obligation. I wouldn't, based on what you have said unless I felt staff regularly go above/beyond. Honestly, even if great, a sincere "Merry Christmas" is all that's needed.

I’ve always generally just taken in a mix of boxed biscuits/cakes, and something individual for the key worker if we like them.

Most common is a card and box of biscuits/sweets for room to share. Some give gifts to individual staff members such as key workers. We don’t expect anything and wouldn’t think anything bad about parents who don’t.

Having worked in Early Years settings, I do a card and a gift voucher for the supermarket over the road saying “buy yourselves something nice in January when you need a pick me up”. That probably only works because of the location though. I’ve also done nice hand soap and some hand cream. If you just want to show your appreciation in general, I wouldn’t overthink it. Box of chocolates is fine.
