Hi all, looking for some advice. DS is 3.5 years old and started at pre school this September. He is struggling with the transition, sitting on the carpet, following instructions, completing tasks etc. nursery have not said they are worried but have said they think it’s a behaviour need. He will become easily frustrated and throw himself on the floor. Language and talking is all fine, he expresses himself really well. Socially fine, fine and gross motor all fine…. Should I give him more time to settle or should I be concerned?

definitely not he is just adjusting x did he attended a nursery setting before this if not I imagine it’s so over whelming at first ! He’s doing great

Is this his first experience of formal childcare or was he at a nursery before?

Busybee32 · 22/10/2025 22:35

Thank you for your responses. He was at a childminder before this, very relaxed environment, only 5 children. Whereas there are over 50 children in this setting and more structured and formal x

I’d give it a bit longer than before worrying tbh. That’s going to be a big change for anyone shoes probably just adjusting as it’s only been a few weeks.

Thank you, you are right. I’m just finding some of the negative feedback so hard but he is still so young and this is a huge adjustment for him
