Is the second winter easier than the first?

Mums! Is the second winter easier than the first one with illnesses? We're currently at the end of one cold and I don't know if I should brace myself to be ill for 6 months again or not 😅 Although she has taken it much better being ill so far, last year a cold wiped her out!

Our second winter was FAR easier, we got to about Feb of the second winter with not a single illness and then had a flurry over the course of a few weeks

Honestly? No. Neither are the 3rd, 4th or 5th winters.

Stock up on Calpol, Vapour rub and tissues. Get the whole family taking vitamin D from September onwards and try to ensure good hand washing.

I really hope so! Though our nursery has already had a hand, foot & mouth outbreak. DC had HFM this time last year; thankfully this time they didn’t seem to get it nearly as badly, just a few blisters/spots and no temperature or anything. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

My first slightly easier winter was the 8th.

Sorry OP. I don’t think it’s helped that the world has moved a bit backwards since the arrival of covid, so more people seem to attend when ill than previously. Add in a higher susceptibility to other illnesses after infections like covid and it’s pretty shit.

Yes. It gets better. First winter with first child is horrendous!

The second was a little bit better for us but still pretty bad. Hoping for a better 3rd winter this year.

Just circling back on this for anyone who is wondering, so far I have found this 2nd year much easier - this time last year we already had a stomach bug, 2 ear infections and a trip to the hospital.

I know its early doors but so far this year we have had a couple colds but nothing nearly as bad as the first year was. touch wood will hopefully continue this way although i'm sure the odd stomach big will no doubt come to play.

Been giving vitamins everyday so hoping that has something to do with it
