Son crying going into Nursery.

My son is 3 and a half and has just started a school nursery 3 weeks ago. The nursery is lovely and the teachers/staff are wonderful.

We haven’t had any problems, he goes in the afternoons and has been more than happy to go
in a leave me.

But yesterday at drop off he got very upset and didn’t want to go in, I ended up going in with him but had to leave him crying.

He was fine after within about 30 seconds and had a great afternoon but now he’s saying he doesn’t want to go back.

Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any tips?

Some children settle very quickly and then have a wobble a few weeks in. I think it’s the realisation that they have to go everyday and it’s not just a one off event. I had one child leaving saying, I’ve been to school now I don’t need to go anymore!

Yeah, really normal to have this kind of "regression" - it isn't really a regression but looks like one.

Talk lots about it when with him, about all the fun toys and activities and his lovely teachers and his favourite things - if you have photos of the setting and staff that could help too. "Ms Smith will be there when we get there in the morning, she'll help you with your coat and bag, then maybe you can show Ms Jones how to set up the train track" - that sort of thing.
