Wetherby Pembridge Minors in Notting Hill - insights?

We are exploring nurseries in Notting Hill for morning only sessions. The one close to Pembridge Hall is called Minors (and it has stellar reviews) but it closed down several years ago and now has popped up further south, rebranded as Wetherby Pembridge Minors with the same headmistress. I assume the reviews for Minors can be extrapolated to Wetherby Pembridge Minors but can’t find any written reviews or much information or even an ofsted report yet. Does anyone have more information or experience or insights with this one?

Alternatives in the area are: Ladbroke Square Montessori, Lloyd Williamson, Pippa Popins Kensington, Notting Hill Nursery. Would love to hear any experiences with any of these!

Would not recommend the nursery.

We along with several other families left the nursery.

Current head lacks gumption. Teachers are made up of random temps without command of English. Lack of proper space.

I would look at other reputable nurseries in the area.

@Adonis88 The reviews for Minors cannot be extrapolated.

The Minors existed under different PE ownership.

Wetherby Pembridge Minors is owned by Inspired Education. Very different in how it approaches education.

@RioMamma can you please elaborate on your experience or your friends’ experiences and why you withdrew besides the temp teachers? were there other nurseries nearby you opted for instead? we’re optimizing for being walking distance to Pembridge Hall

We have moved to nearby nurseries in the area.

Inspired Education is all about a free play type of environment. The children in the nursery just run around and play, as they please. There is no structure. The teachers are also told not to teach too much… Maths was removed from the curriculum! Of course, we were not asking for calculus, but even basic counting was shunned.

With the amount of school fees, it is a shame there is no proper outside space. The children are taken to a small garden square via coach, but not ideal for such small children.

There are huge screens in every room. The children watch lots of songs on YouTube. There is also yoga sessions they practice following lessons on YouTube.

The children are also not challenged - they are taught basic songs and the younger groups were not given a platform to perform during Christmas. Several parents had to demand for their children to have the opportunity to perform.

The Head is a pawn for Inspired to execute its wishes. There isn’t a proper community of parents either because there is a lot of dissatisfaction.

Several policies are changed without notifying parents, like school pick up and drop off. This has caused a lot of hassle for parents doing the school run for children at primary schools.

At our new nurseries, there is structured learning and it is really impressive to see progress. Fellow parents are also interested in fostering a supportive community.

Our one regret is not leaving Wetherby Pembridge Minors earlier.

With this experience, many parents are keeping their children out of the Inspired Education group of schools.

@RioMamma super helpful thanks - what about Pembridge Hall then, that’s also Inspired Education run now. Should we steer away from that?

@Adonis88 I would recommend looking at other options and then decide what is best.
Best for you to make the decision.

The nursery is turning into a boys nursery, as parents hope to secure a spot at Wetherby. Four girls in a class of 25.

Several children have left middle of the year. Serious safeguarding issues and current Head is unable to find solutions.

@RioMamma I met the current head, she seems absolutely incredible and is passionate about making this a wonderful nursery. I wish her all the best with the tasks ahead.

Taking your advice though, I found other nurseries closer to Pembridge. Very clean, modern facilities, high student teacher ratio, cute little garden to play in, walkable to Hyde Park, an no shoes allowed inside which I loved.

That is wonderful to hear you have found good alternatives.

The nursery has had both lead teachers leave in the middle of the school year, along with several children going to other nurseries. I do not wish the Head all the best now. She needs to turn this around.
