Nursery funding issue

My son who has just turned 15 months has recently started going to nursery, i have provided the 15 hours funding code etc, and hes had a couple of 5 hour sessions in the past few weeks. All of a sudden, i get a £280 invoice??? I have then questioned this and been told to just ignore it and theyll sort it, fast forward a few days and contacting again and they have said their funding portal is now closed???? and blamed me (dad) for not reconfirming the funding code. I have explained i am not within my 3 month time frame to reconfirm anything. They have said they need to speak to the funding team but looks like he is losing his funded place until September now... Fast forward again a few days, they have stated the incorrect nation insurance number was given last Wednesday? No details were given on Wednesday, only Friday in which all details are correct. Even so, I provided all details to the nursery before he started, being my first child and never using a nursery before i had the assumption this is all sorted as Gov website says provide the details etc. They have no apologised for the 'mix up' yet i still have to pay the £280, and more importantly my son wont be going back until September now. Bare in mind this invoice is charged up until the 30th June, and I told them he wont be attending until the funding is sorted. Surely i dont pay the full £280? Has anybody encountered an issue like this before, or can offer any advice on what to do next????

When did you apply for your code? If after 1st April then unfortunately funding won't start until 1st September.

I have only just reconfirmed for the first time today, so off the top of my head that would be 3 months ago in march?

But he hasn't been at nursery? So they won't have claimed for him in time to be paid for this term? Our cut off was 6th June in my LA. I can't add new children now until July ready for the September term start.

As long as you applied by the 31st March and the code was active on the 1st April then you should be entitled to funding for this term.
My understanding is that because he’s started late in the term and after the times that the nursery will have submitted everything to get funding for children for this term, they won’t be able to claim for him until they allowed to submit late adjustments which is usually around August time. I’d contact your local council if you don’t get anywhere with the nursery.

Not August, as I wrote above, our Actuals have to be submitted by 6th June for this term.

I guess it must be council dependent then as our actual were in April, adjustments late May and late adjustments end of August for claims after the 1st June.

So we enquired with the nursery for a fair period of time, in which we were chasing them up constantly to get it sorted, i sorted my code out i presume 3 months ago to this date. In that time we was told he could start not long after. Just needed to pay £25 'deposit' or whatever for his snacks and food there. In march i provided my details and code etc, i presumed this would then be left to them to resolve. My assumption due to him them starting nursery was that this was all sorted. I even spoke to them in the nursery when i picked him up 2 weeks ago, asking about invoices for his snacks/food and they at that point did ask me that i am funded. They then explained that invoice is around the start of the next month. So all of this has come as a shock to me, as they have not sorted it all on their end clearly, but allowed him to start and then charge me for it????

Do you not want the place any more then?

i want the place, however, this now isnt until September, im not in a position to be able to afford to send him every week in the meantime without funding. Just unsure what i can actually do about this, as ultimately its my son who is missing out.

They also might not be able to afford to keep the place unfilled/unpaid. Especially since you've already used their service and they haven't been paid.

You need to speak to them.
