8 month old DS on sleep strike at nursery

I realise this is an optimistic request in the extreme but.........has anyone managed to find a way to persuade an 8 month and a bit year old actually sleep for more than 20 mins at a time at nursery?

My ds naps really well at home and, by and large, sleeps pretty well at night although he's got a bit more fitful of late. Looking around, 8 months seems to be a bit of a watershed age but I just don't know what to do about it. He's getting so tired that its making his more and more miserable through the day. He's only there 3 days a week thank heavens but I'm starting to worry about what to do if this situation doesn't improve. Sleep is so important.

He's also less independent generally than he was a few weeks ago which I can manage when he's at home but again, not at nursery.

Any ideas?
