School nursery or private nursery

I have 2 options for my 3 year old, neither ideal, and I need some help on which is the lesser of the 2 evils...

Option 1 - School Nursery
The hours are perfect but can only offer 3 of the 4 days I need, so this leaves me with a dilemma 1 day a week as most nurseries have a 2 session minimum. It would also cost us for this additional day.
Plus point, I have an older child at the school so 1 drop off and pick up a day as start/finish times coincide.

Option 2 - Private Nursery
Can offer all 4 days but due to session times, DC would need picked up 1.5hrs before I finish work (I WFH), so I would have to care for DC whilst still working. The 2 nurseries are close in proximity (both close to home) but still 2 seperate drop offs and pick ups in terms of times and location.

Which would you choose?

Option 1. Option 2 doesn't meet your needs at all if every day you have a big chunk of time trying to work and look after a child. Any childminders around that might be able to help for the other day?

  1. things change. Make sure you are top of the waiting list

Lots of Nannies have one day to fill because their employers do a 4 day week.

You cannot work with a three year-old. Arrange other childcare to cover.

Option 1. With a childminder for the other day.

You need to find another option to be honest as neither work. Are there any child minders or other nurseries?

Although I'm confused at how the private nursery doesn't have long enough hours, they normally offer much longer hours than school nurseries.

Of these, it has to be option 1, with a nanny or similar for the other day.

Obviously you can’t work with a 3yo around.

But really, I’d keep looking for something that works.
