How long did it take your lo's to like nursery? ................

Ds2 (child 4) has been going to nursery now for 3 weeks. He has an afternoon place and doesn't want to go. All morning he just keeps saying 'me not go nursery anymore'. He's fine when we get there but has a routine he must follow before going in! He comes out happy and says he enjoys it. BUT, he's now waking in the night crying, something he has never done - he doesn't wake at weekends and his bedtime routine is the same. I'm not sure whether to leave him to settle or take him out and try again in September.
We had huge problems with his older sister (she's now in reception) and i regret making her go through it. However, he is completely different to her and i do feel he'll settle in time. At least i did think that but now im not so sure. Any advice?

Mine is going through a similar phase although he has been going to nursery since he was 1. Now he is older he tells me "not going to see friends" and starts crying etc but when we pick him up he seems happy. Sometimes I wonder if its because he only goes 3 days a week whereas before he was full-time. Having 4 days with parents in between might also be part of this. I'm second guessing you have him in the morning which might make it more painful for him. Not sure what advice to give but he might just need a little extra time to settle in.

I do feel he just needs more time, but i had such an awful time with dd2 and feel so guilty about it that i don't want to make the same mistake again. When he's at home he doesn't cling to me or follow me around or even want me that much, he just plays and potters on.

Back again, but prob not for long! ds said on and off all morn that he doesnt want to go to nursery anymore, for past two days. cried initially pulling up to nursery but then gone in fine! Is this normal? 1st two dc went to nursery fine, dc3 never liked it but i knew she never would. Now with ds i just don't know.

ds2 has been in nursery 1 day a week sonce i went back to work when he was 9 months old. He is 4 in august and still cries every time he is dropped off, the nursery nurses tell me he is fine within 10 minutes of me leaving. He has just started pre-school ready for reception in september and is the same with that - don't think he will ever walk in without a fuss!
