Preschool or nursery Preschool?

my DS is currently in nursery, not yet in preschool room. I have heard the preschool is quite relaxed with less school prep. Would there be any benefit from moving to a preschool that is attached to a school or preschool elsewhere that does age 2.5+ ? Do specific preschools provide more school preparation than nurseries?

The school preparation will be very similar, and I don't think it's worth moving for this reason alone.

However, a big difference will be the time spent in nursery. A school nursery will be closed during the holidays and usually runs from 8.30am - 3.30pm. Outside of these times you will need to use wrap around care or holiday clubs, which are very unusual for this age group.

The preschool provides wrap around care and a holiday club from age 3. Im considering moving my DS for sep 2026

They should both follow EYFS guidance, so provision shouldn’t be that different.

For most schools attendance at school pre school doesn’t guarantee a place in the school

EYFS provision will be very similar and all preschools help children prepare for school, not just those attached to schools. If there is a big reason for moving then fine but otherwise you’ll get a very similar educational experience.
