Redundancy and free childcare funding

My workplace are making quite a large number of people redundant, and I'm at risk. I have a 1yo that's beautifully settled in a great nursery.

If I'm not in employment we can't afford to fund my child's nursery place ourselves, but the waiting list is over 12 months long so if I have to remove them I won't be able to accept another job as I'll have no childcare! Does anyone know what kind of grace period there is on the funded hours?

Obviously I'm already looking but I need to start planning.

It's until the end of the term in which your current eligibility expires. This is likely to be 31st August at the moment.

Damn, it's looking like end date for those redundant will be end of August 😭 was hoping I'd have a couple more months so worst comes worst maybe seasonal work for Christmas would start popping up!

Just make sure you reconfirm as soon as you can in August so that it extends into the next term

I had the same situation, I rung the helpline and asked and they said that as long as I was employed on the reconfirmation day, it will keep the funding till the next re confirmation.

I managed to get something fairly shortly after being made redundant, but it was so so so stressful. I wish you all the best
