Nursery- Crying

My toddler has suspected autism and just turned 2 in December and i’ve started him at an autistic nursery which are amazing with him & his needs. He’s always had severe attachment issues with me and cries to the point where he makes himself sick if i even go upstairs & he notices/can’t come with me. He won’t even stay with his dad/my husband & it’s getting him down as well. He does stay at my parents every week for the night but i have to sneak out of the house whilst he’s occupied or it’ll be a huge meltdown. He’s crying at nursery during drop off and then the whole session as well to where I have to come and collect him after an hour or so and i’m wondering if that’s something that’s normal or if there’s anything I can do to help him settle at all? he’s absolutely fine if i’m there but as soon as i’m gone he just cries the whole time and i feel awful for the staff and him because i want him to have fun but he just spends the whole time cuddling with the staff and won’t even venture out to play with anything 😢 any advice? Do i just wait it out? I’m feeling like he might never settle and it’s worrying me a little!

Why does he need to go?

An autistic nursery?

Yes. Literally for toddlers with extra needs. And yes, my toddler has been seen by professionals.
