My son hates nursery, what do I do?!

My son has been attending the same nursery since he was 9 months old. As he's got older (coming up to 3 years old) he seems to dislike it more and more. Each day is crying at drop off, saying he doesn't want to go to nursery etc. but can never really articulate why just "there are too many friends".

The staff are lovely and often send me pictures of him having a great time, he has friends there he talks often about. Both my husband and I work full time so there is no other option, he's already with my mum twice a week.

My question is, should I be genuinely worried and look to put him in a different nursery? Or stick this one out? I'm not sure what else to do!

Is "too many friends" maybe toddlerish for "it's too loud" or too many people want to play with him? I'd roleplay how to say "No, I don't want to play that right now, thank you" or similar rather than rip him out of somewhere he is seemingly used to and happy once in.

Possibly abit too busy for him.

Do they have space for some quiet/down time?

Not enough quiet down time or story time? Tell the staff he’s anxious. What do they say when he cries?

Thanks all for the suggestions! I had a big chat with him this morning and it's definitely a noise thing. We've agreed if it's too loud he will go to the book corner to chill out for a bit, I've also let the staff know. They are also going to tell him in advance and activity they will be doing that day so he has something to look forward to. Really hoping it helps!

I've worked in a preschool and it's LOUD. It's noisy. All the time and even in the quiet book corner he will have to filter out all the other noise.

I think an ideal is cm who takes the kids out to parks and duck ponds and walks in nature and garden play/ indoor play plus preschool for a shorter length of time. But you have to do what you have to do
