Hi all

I am half Argentinian and was brought up bilingual - it is by far my mother tongue but I feel it was a real gift from my parents. We are now considering childcare for our 10m daughter and would love her to go somewhere where she is spoken Spanish too. I’m really struggling to find someone but assume they must exist. Anyone have any ideas where to look. Thanks in advance. First time posting so sorry for any lack of etiquette?!

Google brings up several Spanish or bilingual nurseries in London - what have you looked at so far?
There's one in Clapham, one in Blackheath - depends how far you are willing to travel.

It’s quite hard to make a “regular” nursery break even, OP, given the low rates of government reimbursement for the “free” hours. There has also been a post-Brexit reduction in young overseas workers. Schools have a shortage of language teachers. Staff who speak Spanish and have some ability to teach what they know will be more expensive than regular staff.

As per PP, obviously some owners have solved this. But I don’t think there will be many.

You might have more luck finding a Spanish toddler club/class and taking her along?

Wouldn't you be best advised to use Koru Kids or childcare.co.uk or Sitters and putting Spanish speaker as one of your criteria?

My friend found a German nanny that way.

Alternatively, Southwark Borough has the most Spanish/Portuguese speakers so I guess if you prefer a nursery/childminder situation, look a bit further up the train line towards Herne Hill.
