We have just bought a house and get the keys in a couple of weeks. DS is currently at a school nursery that will be about a 15 minute drive away from the new house. There is a place at a nursery which is a minute walk away.

Do we move him to the one closer? He has made a lovely group of friends at his current nursery. We also have two other children who I would have to take with me in the car for pick up/drop offs.

Really don't know what to do! He is young and will adapt to the new change, I am just fearful of upsetting him!

Will your child be going to the school attached to the nursery or one closer to your new home? We have moved twice in a year and my eldest child had to move nursery once and then move schools and my youngest has had to move nurseries. Felt awful but the moves were completely necessary and wouldn't have been feasible to keep the kids in their original settings. Kids are remarkably resilient and my 2 have both settled and are thriving in their new settings. It was important for us that they were making friends with children who they would be going to school with and able to play out with in the community as they get older. Feels awful as a parent moving them when they are settled but it's important to look at the bigger picture. At this age they are so fickle and come home with a different 'best friend' every other day 😊

Honestly, I would move little one. A minute walk away is so lovely. Not having to bundle everyone in the car, not having to worry if traffic is bad or if there are roadworks. Will be cheaper too as you’re not going to be using fuel.

@Wherestheoffswitch Sadly not the school nursery as they don't have full time spaces 😔 It would still be a lovely private nursery and more than likely with children who he'll go to school with. That is so true re the best friend! I truly appreciate you sharing your experience and I am so glad it has all worked out. You've made me feel better about it all.

@milomarmite 100%! I agree with you on this as we currently walk to the nursery and it's so nice. Occasionally I'll have the car if I'm picking up from being out with the other two but it's not fun 😆 I think we will just bite the bullet!
