Trying to get my head around the free hours for 9 month olds.
My little boy was born May 2024 and I am looking to return to work March 2025. Reading the gov website as he was born in May it’s saying we’re not eligible for the free hours until September, is this correct or have I misunderstood it?

also when would I need to apply to get the free code to provide the nursery?

He'll be eligible after easter- the term after he turns 9 months which is February. You need to get your code no later than the 31st March for that term although your provider may ask for it earlier to process their claim.

Isn't it the term after their birthday? So may is funded from September?

The 9 month old funding starts the term after they turn 9 months. The 2/3/4 year old funding starts the term after they turn that age respectively.
