9 month old + funding

My son turned 9 months this August (born November 2023) and starts nursery next week on 30 September but I've just been told by his nursery that because he wasn't on their regular attendee list as of 1 September he won't get any funding until next January. Can anyone confirm whether this is correct? I thought he just had to start by 30 September to get it now. We have the funding code from the government.

Thank you!

No as long as your code works for this term, they can accept it for funding. Have they tried?

Agree with Tulip8. He will get his funding from whenever they validate his code, although they might not actually get paid until Christmas.

It might be down to council policy?

Do they know you've got his code already?

I have to sign something from the nursery that goes to the council every three months, and that does say that he must have been in regular attendance on the first funded day of each period, but you do have a code for him...

That's only if they claim for the full term, the nursery can claim for fewer weeks (ie the amount the child will have completed by Christmas).

Thanks all! I've spoken to the council directly who confirmed that we are eligible for the funding immediately and are guiding the nursery with what to do. Such a relief!
