Resettling at nursery after a broken leg

I saw a post about a lady who's son broke his leg at nursery, but it wouldn't let me comment and insisted I start a new thread.
I wanted to post because I'm in almost an identical situation now. My 2yo boy broke his femur at nursery in May, spent 2 weeks in traction in hospital and 4 weeks in spica cast.
Nursery had no idea what had happened and said he was fine when I collected him, although he couldn't walk ans was crying in pain.
My query is how did anyones little ones in the same situation settle at a new nursery? I've moved mine to a new one and he is very unhappy to be going there each morning and I don't know if its due to the trauma or something more. I've booked a meeting with them next week to discuss what their plan is to help him but will likely move him again, however don't want him to feel even less settled at a new one.
If anyone could share their experience I'd really appreciate it
