My DD birthday is 15/9. She is in pre school. September 2025 she will turn 4. Do I start to apply for reception this autumn or next as I’m away she has a September birthday. I’m a bit confused.

This autumn you apply.
she’ll be one of the oldest in the year

I don’t think that’s right. Children born between 01.09.2020 and 31.08.2021 will apply for reception (starting September 2025) this Autumn usually Nov-Jan. Then find out April 2025.

If your daughter is 4 in Sept 25, you would apply autumn 2025 for a 2026 start. So she would start, just about to turn 5.

This is England, not sure of other countries. Your preschool should give you guidance.

Yeah you'd apply autumn 2025 as they can't go to school before they're 4 so she won't start reception in 2025 she'll start 2026 just before she turns 5. She'll be one of the oldest in the class

So her birthday is 15/09/2021? You’ll apply in September 2025 ready for her to start in 2026 just before she turns 5.you should get a pack in the post from your council in early September 2025 with details of how to apply

Snozzlemaid · 17/08/2024 10:50

If she was born 15/09/2021 she will start reception in September 2026, the month she turns five.
