Anyone been hit with a huge nursery price hike?

I absolutely don't blame my nursery for this - I know costs have been spiralling, it's hard to retain staff, etc...but they announced yesterday that they are putting prices up by £7 per day, per child. I have twins.

I've worked out that this is an additional £3,500 a year for us. This is on top of another increase a couple of years ago as I was due to return from maternity of £5 per day, per child.

This just feels insane. It's still worth me going to work, but there must be a lot of people who aren't so lucky. What a terrible, broken system.

It was always going to happen with the Tories poorly funded 9 month old childcare scheme coming in. Labour has said they will look at the funding rates but that will take time (they have only been in power 2 weeks).

10% last year, 12% this year. I think we're going to have to drop days - we already flex our hours to collect older DC once a week each from school so I think we'll be doing the same with DC 2. Making the change will pay for our family holiday...

ETA - I'm in NI, so no funded hours here, either to mess up the system or to reduce the bill.

Yes, our most recent price rise was about 11% I think. We're extremely lucky that my in-laws do two days a week for us.

What % is your £7 rise?

To be honest, I'm just crossing my fingers they stay open at all given the news you hear about so many places closing, not being able to find staff etc.
