Nursery- 2 settle sessions then just go for it?

My 1 year old has 2 settle sessions at nursery this week, had 1 today and 1 tomorrow. I leave him there for 2 hours and they play/care/feed him etc. It went ok today, he was upset at points. After tomorrow, I’ll just take him on his first day and that be that. I can’t get my head around he’ll have done 2 hours twice, and then after 5 days back at home he’s then in nursery from 7.30ish-5.15pm. A long day. Not sure what the point of this post is…there isn’t an answer….any one have any experience of how the baby manages?!

They'll be fine, I think they just take it in their stride.

Exactly the same as what my DD did and all was fine. On her first full day I picked her up early. She was still very happy and enjoying herself and her key worker suggested she leave on a high as it were. Perhaps you could do the same?

My son was one of those babies who was fine, though he would wail with relief when he saw me.
Other children who were doing settling in sessions at the same time cried throughout them. I felt bad for their parents.
You could try a more gradual approach but it seems you are starting back at work on Monday?

Yes I start back next Monday. Nursery just offer 2 settle sessions, maybe another if child hasn’t coped well but they haven’t mentioned that yet. I’m going to try and finish earlier but unlikely. I will just hope for the best!!

They will manage, they may be upset at times but the staff will help them. If you can pick up/drop off a little earlier for the first week or so that may help. I think parents, especially in baby room, can find it harder than the babies do. Once your baby gets to know the staff they will quickly settle. It's easier for babies under two to settle. They struggle settling most between 2-2.5yo as they are also very angry as well as upset.
