Ds 10m and I are moving from Essex shortly, do not know anyone, and never been to York (haven't even seen the house yet...long story!) suffice to say I would really appreciate advice around nurserys in the York area as I shall be returning to work.

He is currently in a family type nursery and despite a few settling probs initially, he seems really happy so would prefer this kind of environment to the big "chain" type if possible.

we are actually moving to Billbrough but am thinking York is nearest town?
Also if anyone has opinions on nurserys to avoid I would be grateful for that info also. Thanks alot

The campus university at York University is great (and open to people outside the university) but it has a very long waiting list - even longer than usual as Primary Steps, which was the nearest one to it, closed down.

My little one is at Cherry Tree neighbourhood nursery - part of the Hobmoor Childrens Centre. I think its great! Caring gentle staff and plenty of activities

I'm in north York, but have friends in southbank area (by the racecourse) and there's a big waiting list for nurseries in that area at the moment as a popular one closed, so if you're thinking round there you might need to get a shifty on!

Thanks Heather
your not the only one, everyone I have spoken to has said how lovely it is which is taking the edge off a scarey move! (am secretly itching to go shopping, looks like fab shops!)
