Change in Nursery Funding Hours

breastfeedingmum1 · 21/03/2024 12:47

My little ones nursery previously allowed the 15 hours funding to go against his half day sessions.
They have now changed their policy to state that the 15 hours funding will only apply to full day sessions IF your child attends nursery for at least 2 full days
Can they do this?
There isnt anything in the terms and conditions suggesting that they can change the way they give parents access to their 15 hours funding entitlement

Yes they can require you to use the funded hours whenever they want to.

I don’t see why not? Lots of nurseries have various policies on number of days and way days must be taken.

But can they change how funding is applied given that when I registered my child, the policy was to apply funding to all sessions but now its only against full day sessions?

Yes absolutely they can. You also have the option not to continue using their setting if it does not suit your needs anymore.

What does your contract say? I think they are allowed to change their policies, many nurseries are having to make these changes as the funding changes

ExcitingRicotta · 21/03/2024 16:55

Your contract may require them to give you a notice period but yeah they’re not even required to offer the 15 hours at all.
