Applying 15 Free Hours For 2 Year Olds

Hello,

So we already have account for tax free childcare for our 2.5 year old.

According to childcare choices website we should be applying between now and mid Feb for the 15 free childcare hours in order to get our code in time ahead of April.

When I go to our account to apply it won’t let me apply again for my child as I already have an account ( makes sense) and it says that I need to wait until I reconfirm. You have to reconfirm every 3 months and the earliest I can reconfirm now is March 19th. Which I’m worried will be too late to get the code in time?

Also I don’t understand how reconfirming will allow me to apply for the free hours?

has anyone else previously had tax free childcare and then applied for free hours - I just want to know what the process was. Just so I can understand if I’m okay to just wait until 19th March to reconfirm and can hopefully apply for the 15 hours that way or do I need to contact someone?!

I haven’t yet done my 15 hours one as our reconfirmation date is next month, but when I applied for my older child’s 30 hours the code came through almost as soon as I had done the reconfirmation.

I would perhaps flag to nursery that you renewal date is mid-March and that you will send it as soon as you have it.

I think there might be some more information about this all coming out, as I know pregnant then screwed have been gathering comments from parents and asking the government for more clarity.

Oh you don’t do anything different when you reconfirm, the system will know that you are now eligible (presume based on date of birth) and generate the code you need.

Follow Pregnant then Screwed - they’ve raised this with the DfE and are chasing for an answer for people in your position.

Ohh okay thank you!

I did mine today as today was my date to reconfirm and at first was so confused because I couldn't find a bit to apply for the free hours!

I had to google it and found out I just had to click on reconfirm and once you confirm your details are still the same and click 'continue' it came up with a page that said I'm now eligible for the free hours then shortly after they sent me a code

Blessedbethefruitz · 20/01/2024 18:37

Yea I had to reconfirm earlier this month and got the code for my 23 month old, just sent to the tax free childcare inbox :)

Edit - I didn't apply or do anything different at all.

AnotherCountryMummy · 20/01/2024 19:50

Yes I've just reconfirmed and the code came through automatically within a couple of days. I didn't need to do anything additional to apply.

Hi @ejacks89

Have you had your temp code through yet? I'm still waiting!

Taenia · 13/02/2024 10:03

Hello! I had my temp code come through last Thursday. (My reconfirmation date fof tax free childcare is 21st Feb)

ejacks89 · 13/02/2024 13:29

Yes! I got it sent through last week via a letter in the post. They are sending them through to anyone that can’t reconfirm in time for April. So you should get yours through soon fingers crossed x

I'm due to reconfirm on the 15th Feb so I'm wondering I've not had it yet because I'm just on the cuff of the cut off?! Hoping I have no issues Thursday!
