15 hour funded code EARLY?!

Hi all ☺️
LO has just turned 2 and is currently looked after by my mother.

My window to apply for the 15 hours funding for working parents just opened so I applied and in the letter/message containing the code, it states 'You can access Free Childcare For Working Parents from the term following the date of this message, or the term after your child turns two, whichever is latest'

Gov.uk's page on free childcare for working parents has a table and because my LOs birthday is before 31 December is shows they will get their hours the term after 1 January. It also states that you can apply for the 15 hours when your child is 1 year and 36 weeks.

I then looked at my local councils website that implies there is a term beginning on the 19th Feb.

I'm wondering if that means (providing the LA/nursery agree) that my LO is entitled from 19 Feb and not 1 April? What do you guys think? Will make some phone calls in the morning ☺️ I've attached some screen shots.

Those are half-terms aren't they? If you look at the heading above the box, Spring Term is that chunk of time from Jan to April, all one term. No term starts or ends in Feb.

My dd's nursery have been so helpful with our free hours admin, literally I sat in the manager's office and she helped me fill out the forms there and then. You could speak to yours and they can explain things for you

Is this the new free hours system? If so it doesn’t start until April so you wouldn’t get it until then regardless.

Ps sorry I've seen you don't use a nursery. Still I'm afraid Jan to April is one term

It doesn't start until April

Snozzlemaid · 19/01/2024 06:13

It will definitely start in April.
This funding is not available until then.
There is no new term in February, there is only the half term break.
Spring term runs from January to the end of March.

Ah thank you all :)
I understand about the terms now.
