Hi all,
My son is 2.5 years old and has been attending nursery since he was 10months old. We've recently moved house and had to switch nurseries. He's been attending his new nursery since mid-Nov and cries every day when we drop him off. Sometimes he cries before we even leave the house. He keeps asking me if I'm coming back again as we travel to the nursery.
I'm finding it really hard to leave him crying every day. He's a sensitive kid and quite introverted so I did expect it to take him a little while to settle but this is longer than I was expecting. He was usually happy going to his previous nursery (although we had the odd occasion where he wasn't happy to go and we went through a difficult patch with this when his baby sister arrived 8 months ago).
The new nursery is much larger than his previous and I'm wondering if a smaller nursery would suit him better. I've arranged to meet with the nursery manager to discuss things.
Should mention that it is taking him less time to settle now than previously. He used to spend the whole morning upset but now it takes about 20mins for him to settle. One of the nursery workers has suggested to me that him crying as we do drop off is part of his routine... I don't agree with this and he's never behaved in this way at his old nursery.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice really or been in a similar situation. Thanks for taking the time to read this :)
