15 free hours in April

While I wait for the nursery to get back to me, has anyone else discussed the 15 free hours with their childcare settings? When it was first announced, our nursery had said they'd not had contact by the govt to discuss how it would work.

Also, pro rata, is it 15 hours for about 38 weeks?

Government have still not deemed it necessary to tell us the finer details. We'll hear by 31st March according to our LA.

Take a look here www.childcarechoices.gov.uk
All the info you need is on there and you can sign up for emails to notify you when more information is released.
Parents can apply for their code from 02/01/2024 ready for April.

Ours haven't decided if they're able to offer reduced hours in line with new scheme yet. They do tax free and normal 30 etc but they may not adopt the new bits

I asked about this and they haven’t received the rates from the council yet so can’t plan the pricing structure for parents yet. Mine only qualifies from September (why isn’t there a summer term?! Or at least divide the months evenly, sincerely a mum of an early May baby)

I really hope they can offer it to us and I don’t even mind if we have to increase his weekly hours / sessions to get it. Otherwise I may have to pull him out completely and quit my job.

As others have said the government are kindly keeping settings in the dark. We’ve been advised to apply for the code but they’re unsure if they’ll be able to afford to offer it. We’re not in a good position if they can’t but it’s understandable from the setting’s perspective.

No, I've asked ours to let me know when they have a plan, I've not heard anything though.
They have told me they're at capacity for extra days though - with the 30 hours they have a minimum of attendance of 3 days. DS does 2 days so I think even if they offer it I won't be able to take advantage of it, at least not straight away.
