Arrival anxiety

Since my DS was 8 months old, he's been going to nursery. He goes 4 days a week and fast forward to now, he is 3 years old and still cries nearly every single day at drop off. It's almost become routine. We took him to the pre school for a visit where he'll be starting soon and he clung to me and sobbed the whole way round. The guilt I feel not spending as much time with him as I would like is made so much worse by this response he has to these places.

Anyone, does it get better? I was a crier too! My mum remembers taking me crying my eyes out to school when I was as old as 8. Admittedly, I still usually get that pang of anxiety when I leave for work every morning.

Is he okay once he's settled? We have quite a few who cry at drop off but by the time we take them to their room they're fine.
If you feel anxious about going to work perhaps he's just the same as you and feels anxious at the thought of going to nursery.
He's not going to cry forever but I would have a chat both with him and the staff to ensure he's happy during his session and also to see if you can work out why he cries.
