Hi all, wondering if you could help.. DD4 is leaving nursery next week and staring reception. What's customary for nursery parting gifts? Would you give a gift for all nursery staff or just her key worker? Thank you x

my LO is not anywhere near leaving but when the time comes I’ll be giving all the staff as they are all so great with my child :)

I have no idea what other people do but we live on a budget and our DC go(/went, in the case of eldest) to a very large nursery. So buying for everyone was not possible. Like with room changes we always buy a small gift for their key worker (e.g. candles, smellies, wine, nice chocs or something) and then a large Ringtons gift set for the rest of the staff in the room to share. Those gift sets are mixtures of tea, coffee, biscuits etc so I presume they probably just leave them in the staff room for the staff to share. I do a card for key worker and a card for all the room stuff together. Also did a card for manager, deputy manager, chef & all the nursery staff together too with final leaving.

all the parents we knew who had children leaving all put their money together in a pot and got something. that was a voucher for each teacher. however, we got a box of chocolates as a gift from
us and a card made by our DC, something personal to remember.

Chocolates or something to be shared, and an individual card for key person is more than enough. (I'm a key person). The gesture is appreciated, whatever it is!

I bought trays of cupcakes from tesco and left them in for the whole nursery as he had gone up all the rooms from a baby. Think I did costa vouchers for his key workers in the room he was leaving.

I bought all the teachers in the preschool room a bottle of Champagne and got them all individual cards saying how much I appreciated them! At Christmas I made a hamper for them all to share, with nice M&S biscuits, chocolates, crisps, coffee and juices, that went down really well too.

I'm going to get a card and a load of Starbucks vouchers

mynameiscalypso · 03/09/2023 11:35

We got small Amazon vouchers for the staff.

Personal thanks always go down well and don't cost too much. It doesn't have to be a present.
This year some of the staff at my place have recieved;
Key ring with a little poem on, personal cards, e mails with thanks specifically for the key person, a book for the nursery with thanks written in.

Saying that, chocolate always goes down well too! (Remember they may have a no nut policy)
