Settling in at nursery?

Hi mums,

How long did it take for your little ones to settle at nursery?

My little boy is just over a year old. He has been at nursery over a week now and seems to be settling OK. He is eating (very!) well, sleeping well, but refuses a bottle during the day (possibly due to temperature - he’s ridiculously fussy!). This probably doesn’t help as he often gets crabby if he doesn’t have his feeds.

The only thing is that he has teary episodes during the day and needs lots of cuddles/reassurance but is happy for the nursery staff to do this.

Nursery say he is doing OK but I am of course worried and hoping for the experience of others!

Thanks so much,

Hi OP my LO has also been at nursery for a week (only goes in 2 days) he also won’t take a bottle there and we are lucky if he eats there too which will hopefully improve as he settles in. This morning he clung to me crying and now I’m sat at home feeling miserable - tomorrow I go back to work.

It sounds like we are having similar experiences so thank you for this thread as it’s reassured me. By his second day last week he was smiling and eating but because he only goes 2 days I’m aware it may take longer than a child who goes more often.

How many days does your little one go to nursery?

It's so horrible isn't it, so hard leaving them when they are upset.

My little boy is in nursery 4 days a week, so has been in 7 days now in total! He would normally be in today but has a temperature and is under the weather so we are keeping him at home (had to collect him early yesterday too due to temp which didn't go down with calpol!)

I hope it all comes with time but that doesn't make it any easier now!

Yes we have had a cold from his first session I’ve been dreading the sickness 😂

Hope your little boy feels better soon and I’m sure with time the settling in will get easier!
