Nursery not returning my call / updating me!

Hello!

Today is DD (2 year's old) first day at nursery and as expected she was super clingy and very upset when we left her at the door. We gave her a hug and kiss and kept it brief and happy as we could so she wouldn't sense our stress for leaving her!

We were told by the key worker who took her inside that she will leave a message half an hour later with an update, but we haven't heard anything after almost 2 hours now.

I called an hour after dropping DD at nursery as I hadn't heard anything and it went to voicemail. I've tried 2 more times every half hour but I don't seem to be getting through to anyone, I left a message the first time but not after that.

Should I be concerned???

I am assuming she's super upset and they will want to update me if/when she calms down?

Update! I finally managed to get through to someone after 2 hours! Very happy to report DD seems to be ok, such a huggeeeee relief!

Is it normal that it can take that long to get through to someone at a nursery?

Yes, even if they have a dedicated office/admin person that person may not be available to answer the phone all the time.

Normal a lot of the time but I absolutely remember how I was on DS’s first day- refreshing the app like a madwoman every two minutes. They also didn’t call to update when they said they would, and I was climbing the walls, but that was because he was fine and they didn’t remember to do it. They’re actually a lot better with updates and correspondence now he’s established there.

Thank you for replying! It's good to know its normal and that I'm not crazy for worrying! :D
