Holiday after starting nursery

An opportunity has come up for us to take a holiday two weeks after our little one is due to start nursery. Has anyone got experience of the settling in period at nursery and have advice on how much of a disaster this is likely to be?

How old will your DC be? I don’t think it’ll be a disaster re: settling in, especially if they are circa 12 months old…but they may well be poorly if this is their first exposure to childcare. Took DS less than 2 weeks to have his first rotten illness and I’m afraid it didn’t really let up for the first 4-6 months. I wouldn’t plan a holiday of a lifetime in the first few months, put it that way.

Hi @Rosemary2022 did you end up doing this and how did it go? Thinking of something similar

We didnt go in the end and I must say I regret it. I now realise that it really wouldn't have been the end of the world and instead would have just meant that we would have had a couple of days of resettling her in a bit when we got back. A few of the kids caught a bug in the first couple of weeks and ended up taking a week out because of that. I would say go for the holiday! They will get more benefit from the happy times on holiday than the continuity of not missing a week or two of nursery.
